Otter Creek Park is one of the great KY located in Meade County, KY. A feeder creek to the Ohio River, Otter Creek provides great fishing as well as beautiful scenery. The park is 2,600 acres and is not only a great place to fly fish, but also offers excellent hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and camping. More information about the park can be found on the KDFWR website at this link.
Each October and April Otter Creek is stocked with rainbow and brown trout by the KY Fish and Wildlife department with cooperation from the Ft. Knox game department. Coupled with the delayed harvest that runs from October through March, these two stockings provide excellent trout fishing for 8 months out of the year. During the summer, Otter Creek can reach temperatures of 75 degrees, which begins to deplete the oxygen in the water, and does not provide suitable conditions for trout.
However, the fishing isn't over once the temperature rises. Being connected to the Ohio River means Otter Creek becomes an excellent Smallmouth Bass and Sauger fishery as you get into some of the deeper holes closer to the river.
